For real, though, I've been meaning to start a blog for awhile now, and this week seems to be the perfect opportunity. I recently defended my master's thesis ("Social Evil in the Holy City: Prostitution in Charleston, 1900-1920"), I don't currently have a job (if you know someone in publishing, please let me know), and McCormick is not exactly a bustling metropolis full of cultural events. I might be the only person in my parents' neighborhood under the age of 50 at the moment, although that'll change tomorrow when the grandkids start visiting. In short, for the next four days or so I'll have ample time to read, write, and destroy my dad in Wii tennis. Expect another post in a few days!
